Joann Warner, Event Coordinator and a Director of the Board for the Brooklyn Nurses Association (BNA), is originally from the majestically serene U.S. Virgin Islands. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.

Initially employed at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia where she first began her nursing career, Joann excelled in the area of medical-surgical nursing.  This was the foundational experience on which she built her career.  Now Joann continues her healing work in medical-surgical and progressive care nursing at New York Community Hospital and has been serving that community with her expertise for over 22 years.

Joann holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Bethune-Cookman University and was awarded the Shining-A-Light Award from that institution for community service.  In addition, Joann is a trained dialysis nurse (Nemrac Infusion Technology, Inc.) and has also studied Nurse Consulting at Long Island University.  As Joann truly believes in giving back to her community, she belongs to the International Club and Pilot Club both affiliated with her alma mater, BCU. Currently, Joann is also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Gamma Tau Chapter and is the Vice President of the PTA for the Glenwood Academy of Science and Technology.

As a nurse leader, Joann is focused on what she loves most, which is organizing and fostering positive, professional affiliations. Anything that combines those aspects is a winning recipe for this community advocate.
